Hi

I have this photo that i need to modify http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/710/kyltti8.jpg/
and after I follow this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUj8_1LYJ9I
I try to do same thing but my result is this http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/6623/drawingob.png

Question is how can I delete everything inside life buoy?

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

I actually can't get clipping to work like in that video either. But here are a couple of tips that will make it work. After you do Path menu > Combine, you need to do 2 more steps. First, click any color from the palette along the bottom of the canvas. It will color the entire thing. To remove the color from the middle, next open Object menu > Fill and Stroke > Fill tab. In the top right corner of the dialog are 2 roughly heart shaped buttons, the one on the left has a hole in it. If you select the 2 newly colored subpaths and click that button, it will make a hole in the middle.

Now you can use that donut shape to do the clip. Select the photo and the colored donut, and do Object menu > Clip > Set. That should do it.

Let us know how it goes :D
