Shapes stuck on low opacity?

Postby Wylizzle » Sat Aug 30, 2014 3:35 pm

Hi there, I'm using inkscape or the first time so apologies if I'm overlooking something simple.
I am trying to re-create some old art as vector, tracing over a photograph of an old painting.
I am building the image from the bottom up, so to see what's going on I keep the opacity low.

Unfortunately I seem to have stuck all my shapes on low opacity but the sliders show 100%.
If the sliders are slid lower, the shape gets less opaque but never more.

If copied and pasted into a new document the shapes appear at regular opacity, but once copied back they appear at low opacity again

Sorry if this has an obvious solution, I have tried googling and looking all over the forums but haven't found anything.

Attached is a screenshot of the issue.

Thanks for any time :)

Perhaps it`s all about the z-order?
That yellow shape could be under the photo. Use PgUp & PgDown or Home & End buttons to rearrange elements on your canvas.
:tool_zoom: <<< click! - but, those with a cheaper tickets should go this way >>> :!:

Make sure your layer opacity is at 100% too. Use the Layers dialog to check this. To open the layers dialog use Ctrl + Shift + L.

Other possibilities:
The z-order is messed up on the layers, like if the raster image is on a layer above the path's layer.
Use the layers tab (Shift+Ctrl+L) to help it.

Worst case scenario would be if you just simply made a path invisible by itself, with segments going above eachother or with double nodes but that's very unlikely.

I can confirm. I had the same problem as the original poster and checking layers as well as the objects fill&stroke tab was the problem as the two previous posts mentioned. I still mess up, I am new to Inkscape. I am so used to layers when using a program like Photoshop :)
