Hi from Decahedron5D

Postby Decahedron5D » Tue Dec 14, 2010 9:14 am

Hi there :P
I have been using an older version of Inkscape for some time in a rather primitive way, learning just what I needed to do what I wanted. I am sure sometimes I went a long way around so I have upgraded and am working through the tutorial. Some of the work I have done so far can be seen here http://theonetruefactsociety.wetpaint.com/page/THE+KEY and here http://theonetruefactsociety.wetpaint.c ... FOUNDATION

Glad to meet ya, Decahedron5D!

I really enjoy drawing mandalas, although I probably don't have quite as spiritual connotation with them, as in your website Image. I just really like symmetry, and Inkscape's most basic tools make it easy to do the geometric stuff. The star tool is truly inspired, as far as radial symmetry, but the Spirograph extension is over the moon!

Anyway, I'd love to see more mandalas, if you'd be interested in posting in the "Show It Off" forums. I guess I don't have any that are good enough to share. But maybe I'll get motivated to do some more. .....oh, well actually I DO have some sort of manadalas that I posted ages ago. Let's see if I can find the topic....here it is: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1812 (look at the full size, for best effect).

See you around the forums :D

Thanks for the greeting Brynn. I have not tried the spirograph option yet, fun to come. Am looking forward to making some moving graphics too. :D Loved your mandalas.

Oh hey, I just thought of another tool that's great for making mandalas. It's designed to make kaleidoscope type of images. And it's not true radial symmetry.....I'm not sure what kind of symmetry to call it. But it's fun and interesting. And as far as using it for mandalas, you're limited to stars or "flower petals" of 4s and 8s. But it's fun to play with.

Here's the original topic: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3300 You can still download the file from the original link in the topic. It's kind of tricky learning how to use it, but I'd be glad tell you how if you can't sort it out. Here's an example of what I made with it (sorry it's so big):

Wow, I just noticed something....hhmm, actually....well I thought I might add some shading, and bring out some depth and partial 3d. But I don't think it will work with those cloned layers. ....but I could break the clone's link couldn't I??? Not sure. Still fun toy though! Thanks again, tomh :D

You can call me Dec or 5D if you like

That's colourful Brynn !!! Thought I'd have a go at shading myself :o It has taken me longer to try and load the image to the forum than it did to shade it. I tried every file ending I could think of and none worked. I looked through the forum to see what file type was acceptable and could not see anything. lol.
I glow this month ... Dec-Ember

If anyone is interested, I am giving a talk on Blogtalk Radio on Monday, 20th Dec 2010, 10pm England, 5pm EST, http://www.blogtalkradio.com/healingfountain . The title is Manifesting Transformation and will be centred around two images I produced with Inkscape.

Decahedron5D talks about the mandalas of the Progenitor of Light and the Recipient of Darkness and how these can be used to turn ourselves into a healing transformer. You may wish to load http://theonetruefactsociety.wetpaint.com/page/THE+KEY before the show and, if you like, print off the two mandalas for use during the show. Photo quality paper gives best colour resolution. Prepare to be transformed, with love.

Many of the images I produce, I have been carrying in my head for years as a kind of shorthand way of symbolising my thinking, Inkscape has given me the ability to express those images.

Dec :)
