I want to cut multiple objects with single shape. I select two objects. I apply paths -> difference (ctr+-) and the lower one is cropped and the upper one disappears. How to make that upper one stay after applying this operation? I know I can just duplicate it before cutting, but it's a chore having to do this walkaraound every single time.
I thought that fill bucket would solve my problem, but when the project requires precision, this tool turns out to be pretty useless.
Any help will be appreciated.

Re: How to make object stay after cutting
Hi.
What you experience is normal - some operations "consumes" an object. To keep the object just do a duplicate -CTRL-D - before the operation.

If fill attribute doesn't matter combine together the objects (Ctrl+K) that you want to subtract from.
If it does, try with clipping instead.

Thanks for all your replies. Yes, I did research that subject before asking. I guess there is no such option in this program, maybe this will get implemented in some future version.

A single object can clip a group of objects, if that is the goal.
Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Well, well.... what exactly should be implemented? Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V? Copy/Paste?
Just copy the object/shape which you are using for cutting other shapes and than simply paste it when needed for the next cutting. Or you just happent to forget that Inkscape is a vector app? Stamps are for raster images ,)
