Can i mix layer viewmodes?

Postby druban » Thu Nov 22, 2012 12:59 pm

I'm fairly sure there isn't any way to do this from the GUI, but I was wondering if one is willing to tinker with the XML, is there a way to display some layers in outline and some layers in normal viewmode at the same time?

Is it to boost rendering time ?

otherwise maybe you can add a filter that emulates outline

don't have ref right now but you can start with http://html5videoguide.net/code_c5_17.xhtml

Thanks for your reply Vince. You are the filter expert! But i'm afraid I wanted this to manually trace a bitmap and register the paths to already drawn paths... Working in outline mode works really well when you are combining and booleaning paths but then you can't see the bitmap any more. For a while you can give your paths a thin stroke and no fill to simulate outline mode but as the drawng gets more detailed you want to start coloring areas and finish them before moving on to another area... I'm just trying to save a lot of clicking back and forth in the layers dialog...

That would be an awesome feature! Have you thought of formally requesting it? I know that the upcoming new renderer is supposed to help with some of the performance issues we see. But as soon as it's released, we'll see people challenging it's abilities. So that a feature allowing different view modes per layer could be quite helpful. Of course one could always hide layers entirely, but that has limitations as well.

Congrats on 1000 posts, druban :D
