Hi
I've just installed Inkscape. I've looked over some tutorials. All that I am trying to do is to import my transparent background .png into Inkscape and then convert it to svg. This seems easy enough. It does work however when I start with a .png having a transparent background and save as at the end I end up with my image that suddenly has a white background. I have even tried the idea on this site of using the draw bezier tool and tracing then removing the background. It works just fine and I can see that the background is gone. However once again when I choose save as .svg suddenly there's a background again on the saved file.
I am truly confused at this point. It really is not a difficult process which is great, but something must be wrong. It could be user error, but I am perplexed now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Issue with transparency
Re: Issue with transparency

Welcome to InkscapeForum!
If you want to retain transparency in a PNG, you should use File menu > Export Bitmap, instead of Save As Cairo png. I'm not entirely clear what you're doing though, so you may need a little more info. So if that doesn't solve your problem, post again and explain, and we'll try again
