Hi there,
I have a question regarding importing of pdfs. I have a CAD-programme in which I created a caloured and shaded 3D-model. I exported it as a pdf and I imported it to Inkscape. When I created a layer behind the imported I saw that the whole model is surrounded by white boxes. The CAD-package uses Acrobat Destiller 5 for the export.
Does anyone know how I get rid of these? My approach would be to turn all white into transparent, problem is I couldn't find this option.
Thanks,
LeChuck
Importing pdf with colours
Re: Importing pdf with colours
Not sure if this would help or is practical, but have you tried Alt-dragging to select the white boxes, then just deleting them.
Re: Importing pdf with colours
Thanks for your answer. The problem is, that the square with the white also contains colour from the image. If I delete one of the squares I loose the colour as well.
Re: Importing pdf with colours
From what I remember, each PDF page is imported as a group. So, tomh's suggestion would be
select the group which contains the white box,
ungroup it,
delete the white box(es).

Could be clipped or masked objects?
When you open a PDF document (≠ import), the selected page is on its own layer (i.e. 'Layer 1' is renamed with the PDF file name).
AFAIK you can only import 1 page of the PDF document - unless you import the same document multiple times and select a different page each time. This inserts the selected page as group into 'Layer 1' (new document) or the current layer.Slow Dog wrote:From what I remember, each PDF page is imported as a group.
