Postby dabear » Tue Oct 24, 2017 10:04 pm

Hello

I have a large graphic 99" that needs to be cut into section on 24" vinyl.
Ive tried the object-clip and it sectioned the area but when i try to cut, the machine still sees the whole image

i cant seem to get the path difference to work it says one object is not a path. which i cant seem to find out which

any suggestion would help

You could try this:

Select a path, then use Edit>Select Same>Object type... this will select all paths.
Then use Edit>Invert Selection and the non-path objects will be selected.
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

When the Selection tool is enabled, the status bar tells you what kind of object is selected. Maybe it's a rectangle shape, or group or a clone, or some other thing?

Or if you could share the SVG file with us, we could say for sure.
