Hello All,
I recently updated my inkscape to version 0.92.2. I am running on Windows 10. In general it seems more stable, however, any time I try to use the Seamless Pattern extension, it will not load the Pattern creation template. I receive the following error:
"
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files (x86)\Inkscape\pythonw.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
"
It then proceeds to open a new, blank instance of Inkscape, but it never loads the Seamless Pattern extension. Inkscape doesn't "crash", it stays open, but the extension won't load.
Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this error, and what I can do to fix it? Thus far, I haven't been able to find a solution elsewhere on these forums.
If you need more details, please let me know. Thanks all!
Eddie
Seamless Pattern - pythonw.exe error
Re: Seamless Pattern - pythonw.exe error
Extensions menu > Render > Seamless Pattern (0.92.2) should open a small dialog where you can set the size for the pattern "tile". Did you get the crash before the little dialog opened? Or did the crash come after you clicked Apply in the little dialog? Did you change the default size (100 x 100 px)?
Do I recall that this extension needs to be installed? Or was it packed up with 0.92? Looks like was packed with 0.92.2. Hhmm.... Actually I seem to have 2 of those! Not sure why. Maybe I installed it myself, before it was packed with the program (so that now I have 2)?
The extension says that it overwrites the current document. Was your canvas blank before you clicked that? Or was there a lot of contents? I actually don't know if that would matter, but seems possible to my simple way of thinking.

Re: Seamless Pattern - pythonw.exe error
Brynn,
Thanks for the reply!
Sorry, I forgot to mention the dialogue box. That does come up, and I set it to 100 x 100 (or I've tried other sizes as well), and hit okay. Then it loads for a while, seems like it's going to do something, but then the error window pops up.
To run it, I actually access it in this way: File>New from Template>Seamless Pattern. This used to take me to a special template where I can lay out the pattern on the left, and a preview shows on the right. I've never technically done it through the Extensions menu.
I don't know if this help gives more direction, but if you have any other ideas, let me know. Thanks for the help!

If you're experiencing issues with the python that comes with Inkscape, it might be that you haven't uninstalled the previous version completely. There was an issue with the uninstaller for some previous version on Windows.
Can you try if uninstalling Inkscape completely, then reinstalling it including the python option, helps solve the problem?
