convert gsd file to vector
Re: convert gsd file to vector

Welcome to InkscapeForum!
It took me a bit of searching to figure out what a GSD file actually is, lol. Seach GSD: German Shepard Dog, Gettin' Sh1t Done, Graduate School of Design, etc. But it seems it's associated the the Craft ROBO cutter machine, correct? Well it IS a vector format, according to what I read (2nd entry on this page http://www.fileinfo.com/extension/gsd). So you might be able to open it with Inkscape. Have you tried?
Sometimes those cutter machine software makers don't want their customers to use anything except their software, so they make it impossible to convert the file format. But you could first look around in that program which created the GSD file, and maybe it offers other formats. But I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't.
In that case, you'll probably have to import the file into Inkscape, and then use Path menu > Trace Bitmap. Although if Inkscape recognizes it as a vector format, it will not trace it. If that happens, the only thing I can think of, is to make a screenshot of the image (using whatever method or program you prefer). If you use the Prnt Scrn key, you can paste it into a raster graphics program, such as The GIMP, MS Paint, Paint.NET, etc. (there are MANY!) which will offer you an option to save as JPEG. Or I think some screen capture/snip apps also offer an option to save as JPEG directly. So you don't need Inkscape at all to do that.
Once it's converted to JPEG, you can import into Inkscape and trace it (either automated using Trace Bitmap, or by hand) which will vectorize it.
Just fyi

Re: convert gsd file to vector
Yes it's possible to convert your gsd file to pretty much any format you want, but it's not a simple one step process.
Check out this how-to http://scrapncreations.com/blog/?page_id=494
You'll need the robomaster sotware that came with your craft robo, or an updated version, plus inkscape.
Edit:
Recently I needed this information again and decided to visit the website linked to above, to review the file conversion process.
You can imagine my dismay when I discovered that the site is no longer available, and even the internet wayback machine hasnt
kept a copy of it. If you see this post and have a copy of the tutorial, or know of another that works and is available, it would be helpful
if you could post it here.
