Hhhm....it's hard to tell. We may need to see the SVG file, to figure it out.

Is the bottom part of the screenshot the result of the setup in the top part of the screenshot? So that Cut Path was performed on everything in the top part, resulting in the bottom part?

It looks like the line with the missing segment was cut in the right place. Perhaps after it cut the path, there was only one node left. And since at least 2 nodes are required to display a path, it was essentially deleted?

For myself, I think I'd need to see the SVG. There is just too much unknown. (Are all those concentric arcs a single path? Or many? Have they been clipped into that shape? Etc.)

Bug #166302 in Inkscape: “Cut Path looses some segments”?
(Having access to the original SVG might help to confirm this).

(The internal library 'livarot' used for boolean operations and related path operations is rather old - these functions need to be moved to using lib2geom. This is the main reason why several long-standing known issues with path operations haven't been fixed yet.)

Thanks, folks! I'm attaching an .svg so you can try it out. I'm tracing a bad quality photocopy of some drawings and they have lots of concentric circles I have to boolean like that.

So what's the state of lib2geom boolops? Will they manifest in 0.49? Are they in any dev builds yet?

Unlikely IMHO.

No. As far as I know, no one is actively working on it at the moment. Major focus for 0.49 is the new cairo-based renderer.
