Need help in dividing shapes evenly

Postby Feedelordedeer » Thu Jun 09, 2011 11:26 pm

Hello,

I am a total Inkscape beginner and I want, for a logo, to have the capital letter 'U' divided exactly into 5 parts to fill each part with a different color. I'm stuck in the dividing part.

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

If you used Text tool to create the "U" you first have to convert it into a path (Shift + Ctrl + C) and ungroup (Shift + Ctrl + G). Now you have a nice u-shaped path.

Create lines over the path where you want the path to be divided, combine all the lines into one path (Ctrl + K), add the U-path to the selection (Shift + click) and do a path Division (Ctrl + /).

Style each new segment with a different color :)

Hello prkos.

Thanks for the reply. It ended up perfectly, just like I wanted it to be!
