overlay of parts of a path over the same path

Postby mjkrakowski » Wed May 21, 2014 12:38 am

Hello!

I made a text where some parts are overlaying others, i dont know what way is the right one to overlay parts of the same path over it self. i think i could just make a clean cut into it but its complicated. my solution to overlay it just with a white square isnt good cause i get pixels if its on websites.
I drawed a picture to make it understandable:

how to make a seamless overlay of a part of this text?

Hi.

A possible workaround is to have the fill and the outline as separate paths. Use the node editor tool to add new nodes and unconnect unwanted path segments.
Change to outline only display mode (Ctrl+5 twice on th numpad) for better visibility.

hello again, its a bit complicated to adapt and i want to finish it soon. so i tried some other operations to just merge it with splitted parts, but:
how can i cut of the stuff behind black square without destroy path integrity of the right visible?

The simplest way would be to group all the objects together, then use clipping.

Personally I think you are a bit overdoing it.

In my humble opinion if you focused as much on the basic design as on the technic you use here, it would look much better with less work.
