I am preparing figures for a publication at the moment. Most of them are a mixture of data (produced in mat*ab\python) and a couple of explanatory cartoons.
I would like that Inkscape automatically updates my plots as I generate them. As far as I can see this is easily achievable if I save the plots into bitmaps (like png),
since on import Inkscape is so kind to ask if you want to embed or link the file. I would like to have the same option for pdfs and eps.
Have I missed this feature or is it just not there?
Short: How do I link eps/pdf files into a Inkscape project for dynamic update?
Sorry if this is a faq, due to the nature of the question it is fairly hard to use search function (or I am just not capable enough)?
Looking forward to for help
Creating links to pdf/eps
Re: Creating links to pdf/eps
Hello:
Inkscape can link png or jpg images, but the same isn't possible with pdf's I think because of the SVG format.
If you want to link pdf or eps files, you can link them as hyperlinks, like in a web page, using html code embedded in the svg code. But the images of those pdfs or eps files won't appear as drawings
