Batch Exporting

Postby Babymech » Mon Jun 08, 2009 5:31 pm

I'm new at Inkscape and running into some problems using the batch export function. What I want to do is export a number of SVG shapes to PNG files to make them Microsoft office compatible (unless there's some better way to do this, like making custom shapes from SVG files), but I'm running into problems when I try to Batch Export. Everything works fine when I select a single shape and hit export - I get the PNG I want, in the color I had filled the shape with, on a transparent background. When I choose batch export, however, Inkscape creates a new file for each shape, of the correct dimensions for that shape, but entirely transparent. What could I be doing wrong? As far as I can tell there aren't that many options for me to choose in the Batch Export process, which makes it all the more confusing...

Re: Batch Exporting

Okay, let me clarify and amend my original question. After trying it out on another computer (?) I manage to export all files with content. The only problem I am experiencing now is that the files do not appear to be exported separately, but only as square, often misdimensioned, chunks of the whole. The original SVG file I'm using is the blank worldmap at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BlankMap-FlatWorld6.svg and I want to export each nation by itself, so that it can be separately positioned in another document. Unfortunately all the exports look a bit like this (my export of Australia):

Is there a setting that allows me to batch export each selection by itself, without showing the surrounding shapes, and retain the dimensions of the selection?

Thanks for any input - I'm really not looking forward to manually exporting all of these files...
