hi there,
i really hope, this has not been answered before but i could not find anything related by searching.
i have a path with a lot of nodes. to emphasize a certain portion of that path i want to change the color between two of its nodes. (how) is this possible?
thanks a lot in advance,
thomas

Re: howto change the color between two nodes of a path
Strictly speaking, I don't think it is possible for a path to have multiple colours. However, you can break the path at some selected nodes. This creates overlapping nodes. Next, break apart the path itself (Shift + Ctrl + K) - now you can select the different small paths individually. Now you can assign a colour to one of these smaller paths, and it should look like a part of your "path" has a different colour
Note: when joining the nodes again, or combine the paths again, the path will have only one colour once more.

A footnote to Ailurus' suggestion:
You might want to Group all the paths, to make it easier to move around, and prevent accidental separation.
Another way might be to color the stroke of the path with a gradient. This will create a smooth transition from one color to the next. But by manipulating the gradient stops, you can make abrupt transitions. (I don't know that instructions exist for the latter, in Inkscape Manual, so I'll be glad to tell you how, if you like

hey guys,
thanks for the help! i managed to do the trick by splitting the path in two and adding a new one i between having the other color... i dont think this is what you two suggested but i didnt really understand how to do it as i am very new to inkscape (and very impressed as well!!).
