Good day guys I'm very new to inkscape and as I created this image i want, a gear with white fill and white stroke, I want it so that it has a transparent background leaving only the white gear drawing that I made. I've search through here and is there a way now to do this some had said that it is not working and if not can you give me some technique to achieve what I want?
thx in advance^^

Re: make the background of my image transparent
Welcome to the forum
The Inkscape background is transparent by default. You don't have to do anything, except Save As SVG. If you're trying to get a PNG, you need to use File menu > Export Bitmap and not Save As Cairo PNG, to retain the transparency.

Re: make the background of my image transparent
Thank you for your reply sir but how can I export it and not save as Cairo PNG?
Re: make the background of my image transparent
I have tried it I have this triangle shape object selected and exported it with the 'Selected' tab on it and still didn't export it as I want and have this white background on the black triangle.
Re: make the background of my image transparent
Are you saying that you drew a new object to test exporting? The new object is a black triangle? You want the black triangle to have a transparent background, but it's showing up white? Do I understand correctly?
Where are you looking at it, to see whether it is transparent? Because if you're looking at in Inkscape, there will be no indications there. Try looking at the new PNG in some kind of image viewer (like Windows Photo Viewer).
If I have misunderstood, please explain
