Creating something that can be used in Corel Draw

Postby jude » Fri Aug 01, 2008 9:01 pm

I've made a design in inkscape that I am sending to laser cutting places for prices. So far I've been sending .eps but one place I've contacted only takes Corel Draw and say they can't open my eps file. They want .dwg but I was hoping I could send an svg instead. I saved it as a plain SVG and 2/3 of the image has gone AWOL. Here's what I mean:

Image = inkscape svg
Image = plain svg

My concern is that if I send an inkscape svg it will render as plain svg.

Can anyone suggest either a format I can use instead or a way to avoid this problem? Even better, a cheap laser cutting service? ;)

Thanks.

That's possible, but it's more likely to be a bug in Inkscape's Plain SVG output, in which case the Inkscape SVG is probably OK.

Even so, it's always a good idea to check to the SVG file in a reliable viewer, such Batik Squiggle or the Adobe SVG Viewer, just to make sure that there are no problems. (But it could still look different in CorelDRAW, if CorelDRAW's SVG import isn't up to scratch.)

Good point. It looks fine in FF3. I guess I can send along a png of how it should look along with the inkscape svg in case anything goes crazy in Corel Draw. I hope they give a good price after all this :D

Amateures. Seriously, these people must not know what they are doing if they don't accept an industry standard format. They obviously don't have a good understanding of their products or their industry.

I've done business with multiple places like that and it bugged me to no end that I knew more than them. At times I felt like telling them to get out of the way so I could do it myself :)
