I am using Inkscape to create and print professional marketing materials. I print on a Cannon Image Runner 3220. When I prepare the document to go to the printer, under the rendering tab are two options. Vector (I assume this is for projects that contain only text and vector based graphics) and Bitmap (again I assume this is for projects that involve imported images combined with vector graphics and text). What are the appropriate uses for each of these options? I ask this only because I have tried both options on some of my documents, and even when the document has a heavy portion of it covered by a bitmap, the vector printout is more clear.
I can provide more information if necessary.

Printing - Vector or Bitmap Options
Re: Printing - Vector or Bitmap Options
I can't give you a list of best use cases, only some background information I had gathered on the 'bitmap backend' rendering option in the print dialog. Maybe some of the links are helpful to explain the difference between the two rendering options:BigPehr wrote:What are the appropriate uses for each of these options?
- Basic description of the print dialog
- Release Notes 0.46 - Known Issues: Windows printing has two known issues. In both cases the workaround is to print to bitmap (Print -> Rendering -> Bitmap).
- Bug report that explains why to use the bitmap backend as workaround for certain deficiencies in the PS/PDF printing process (patterns, transparency issues)
- two threads about the printing dialog in the inkscape-devel mailing list

First let me say thank you for the assistance. I am going to read into those links and see what I come up with.
