Add background to transparent portion of an object image?

Postby spsonore » Thu Aug 07, 2014 4:12 am

I'm a inkscape newbie. Trying to use it to create a team logo for some shirts. I created a vectorized image and I want to be able to fill in the faces with color. Right now it's transparent. I tried selecting the image and playing with the fill/stroke settings but it just changes the black portion of the image (ie all the black outlines, hair..etc). I want to have color on inner portions (ie transparent/white portion of the faces, arms, etc), but I'm not sure how to do this.
I tried creating a rectangle object with color and played around with clip/mask function but they didn't do what I want.
I've attached the svg file I'm working with...

Hi.

By breaking the path apart (Ctrl+Shift+K) you can have separate objects that can be filled.
Mostly.
Some editing may also be needed before, like selecting all objects, converting stroke to path (Ctrl+Alt+C),
adding them together (Ctrl++).
