Hello

Postby drememynd » Sat Apr 12, 2014 4:25 am

I've learned to use inkscape (my first and only vector graphics program) to create my wedding invitations. The graphics turned out great, and I've made a fantastically unique invitation.

They are beautiful, and I was even able to use an extension (https://github.com/bitterjug/inkmerge) I found in order to do a mail merge and then print all of my envelopes with names and addresses from a csv file. I also altered the extension to do a vertical alignment of the text after replacement, which was necessary because with addresses and also with multiple names of attendees, I needed the text to be placed correctly no matter the number of lines required. (in one place, aligned middle, in another, bottom)

The reason I used inkscape instead of a word processor for the envelope addressing task was the ease of use with altering text blocks to be sideways or upside down. I had issues with upside down text and "vertical" centering of upside down and sideways text that were actually easiest to solve with an inkscape extension.

I'm really happy with inkscape and what I've been able to do with it.
