Installing on mac (10.8.3) 64 bit

Postby nick5454 » Tue Jun 18, 2013 12:30 am

I have a brand new Mac Book with OSX 10.8.3 and I would like to run Inkscape on it.

It's a 64 bit OS

When I run it, the app shuts down immidiately, just a menu flash and back to finder. Is there a 64 bit version for Mac?

Did you install XQuartz, and log out and back in (or reboot) to properly finish the installation of XQuartz?

Not yet (but that's not the reason why the current official Inkscape 0.48.2 package for OS X fails to launch on your system: 32bit apps run just fine on a 64bit OS).

I would also recommend «Some quick tips for Inkscape on OS X» as additional reading for new Inkscape users on OS X.

Thanks!
Replace X11 with xQuartz at http://xquartz.macosforge.org/landing/ fixed it and now I can retire my alienware laptop for good! Well not while i'm playing SSOR...
