Hello all
Sorry to pester, but have had a search on the forum and dont seem to find the particular problem im having.
Im new to Inkscape (used casually in the past) and in the process of making some inverted and mirrored a Coat of Arms Logo ) whos lines and infills I have set to white with a black background (made by drawing a black infilled box behind the logo and lowering to the bottom level), all lines / colours / infills etc are set to 100% opaque and on the one layer.
This is for a etching experimentation im working on with a friend for a product idea we need to demonstrate soon, sadly we dont have much money to get the idea of the ground and me being a fredom lover insist on running linux at home !.
Anyway I have made the logo we have been given permission to use (sadly cant post a file as this would not go down well with the organisation concerned) in 3 different sizes
Regarding the first and largest 60mm size logo all the lines and latin text contained within a scroll design exports to PDF correctly but when copying and pasting the same larger logo and then resizing within the same document (e.g A4 page with 3 differing size logos on it) the latin test is missing from the scrolls on the PDF (visble on the screen in inkscape) on the 2 smaller logos ??
This does not seem to make sence as the larger one works ok and all text is visible on the inkscape screen / all was scale using the dimension box with the padlock locked.
I have tried to manually set the latin test to the top level / set the black background rectangle to the lowest level / selected and deselected text to path in the PDF export options but all without sucess.
The text already appears to be a path as when selecting a letter and opening the font options, changing size makes no difference.
The logo was originally imported into inkscape from a .ai file extention and then edited and pasted into the new document.
Im running inkscape version 0.48.4 / on Xbuntu
Any ideas ? Im sure its somthing daft and easy that im missing !
Thanks Andy

Hi.
The basic answer would be to change the text to paths but as you say it is actually a path, things are more mixed up than that.
Pdf files can have an ugly structure when opened in inkscape.
For instance I can imagine your text object being a rectangle that has a pattern fill made of the letters, and maybe the pattern fill
wasn't set to be scaled with the object?
When you select the text part, what does the bottom indicator bar say?

Hi Thanks for the reply
When selecting on of the letters in the scroll on one of the smaller logos get the following in the bottom bar
Group of 1 object in layer (hash)g14-6-4-6-6
on another double click
Path (52 nodes) in layer (hash)g2064-7-2-5-5
The eye symbol is open and padlock unlocked
When selecting a letter in the scroll on the larger logo within the same document which was copied and rescaled to make the smaller logos (the larger logo prints to PDF ok) get :-
Group of 1 object in layer (hash)g14-6-4-6
on another double click
Pathe(52 nodes) in layer (hash)g2064-7-2-5
The eye symbol is open and padlock unlocked
The letters have an outline and are filled with colour / the outline and fill colour does not print out on the smaller logos but print ok on the larger logo.
The logos also have more text on them which prints ok to PDF (looks like these are fills without an outline) / only the text in the scroll does not print on the smaller logos

Re: Missing Font on resized graphic when exporting to PDF
So going back to the beginning:
the original logo from the .ai is cleaned up well?
Just a quick suggestion: what if you ungroup all the objects, until no more groups appear?
Maybe it could be only a rendering issue, that by ungrouping the objects could be solved.
