I would like to learn how to darken a text image by using a pattern or other text. I've attached a link https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2_M2KUcxw2USXpkUGpPZ1c1M3c/view?usp=sharing to a sample to illustrate the desired results.
Any help will be appreciated.

How do I --- Darken text with pattern or other text.
Re: How do I --- Darken text with pattern or other text.
Hi.
There are a couple of ways doing so, with similar results.
You can:
a) duplicate both shapes -assuming the pattern to be overlayed is already vector, like the text-,
intersect them, and set a wider stroke to that resulting path or outset it.
All vector, however not a live solution nor thin strokes transfering right to pdf-s and may end up with alot of nodes.
b) duplicate -or preferably clone- the text, add wider stroke to the duplicant or some filters for the bolder look and
use masking/cloning on it by the other object.
Masking doesn't transfer right to pdf-s, so clipping is the preferable solution.
Either for masking or clipping, you can use a clone of your pattern for live updating.
c)use a custom filter that you can apply to your pattern object on top in one go.
Downside is that filters are not supported by pdf-s, so when you save them for printing they need to be rasterized.
