CANNOT CURVE THE PENCIL LINE

Postby shadderswife » Sat Jul 30, 2011 3:04 am

Using Vista .48 Inkscape. I draw a line with the pencil and want to curve the line (between the nodes) by dragging the centre of the line down. I am unable to do it.

Using XP .48 Inkscape I can do this with no problem.

Is there a problem with Vista doing this.

Thank you in advance of your help in this.

I don't really know, I use fedora.
Doesn't Vista have something called XP mode? Maybe it would work with that?

or you could set up VitrualBox and run inkscape in a ubuntu VM?

This is my guess as to what has happened...

1. You have your :tool_pencil: set to draw 'spiro' lines. that's the second mode icon in the control bar, on the very left ...

AND
2. you have turned off the :tool_node: 's control on the very right, the one that says, 'show path outline without path effects'.

On paths that you have already drawn, you can, under the path menu, click on ''object to path' or 'remove path effect' to edit the path with :tool_node:
Your mind is what you think it is.

No problem with Vista regarding the Pencil tool. But make sure you switch to the Node tool, to drag the line. Also, there's a bug with the Node tool (I'm sorry I don't have a link to it at the moment) where the little hand associated with Node pointer (which indicates that your mouse is correctly positioned to grab or drag the path) is not displayed at every place along the path. If the Node tool pointer is not showing the little hand, you cannot grab or drag the path. (I first encountered this bug when trying to snap to a path. You also can't snap to an area of a path in which the little hand doesn't appear.) I'll try to find the bug, if anyone is interested?

Thank you all for your quick responses. I have it working correctly now - had to switch the Node tool.
