Dear Inkscapers

I have a picture of map of an island. I want to create the impression that the island is floating in space. For this I created a mesh and set it as a mask to a space image so that it would cover the sea but not the island. However when I exported it to pdf, part of the covering space image was missing. Apparently if I use save as ... and then choose png, it doesn't work. If I use export as png, I get a proper png image where everything is alright.

Yes. The option to 'Save as > Cairo PNG' (not 'png') has been removed from the development version, because it causes this kind of confusion. Cairo PNG is not a fully featured PNG format.

Btw. your post above asks for 'pdf' export. That's something entirely different, and if you hadn't found the solution yourself, nobody would have been able to properly reply.

Well, I did want a pdf. I will just make do with the png instead.

Ah... Okay. Let us know when you want anyone to look into the pdf option.
