Hi Friends,
We've just heard via mailing list that Tim Sheridan (and a few other people, all of whose names I don't know) have released an unofficial test DMG build of Inkscape 0.92.1, which he says should be ok for most people to use. Here's the download link:
https://inkscape.org/en/~tghs/★inkscape-0921-tghs_2-x11-107-x86_64dmg
edit - aargh, that star breaks the link. to follow that link, copy the whole line and paste into your browser
Note that if you run into any bugs, report them directly to Tim. He can be found on IRC https://inkscape.org/en/community/discussion/. Or if you're subscribed to the mailing list, you can report it on the same message thread where he announced it. In any case, please don't report them on Launchpad, yet.
(If you run into problems using this version, and you're not sure if it's a bug, you can post a message in this forum, and we'll try to help you sort it out.)
This is great news for Mac users who have not been able to install via Macports!
He says they hope to have an official, stable version ready for Inkscape version 0.92.2.
Thanks Tim!!!

Re: unofficial 0.92.1 DMG test version (for Macs)
So glad to see some progress for us Mac users.
THANK YOU BRYNN ! , for your kindly concern, and your help in providing an update path for
us Mac users. (The Link seems to work just fine, as it stands right now)
Of course, the real thanks go to Tim Sheridan for the nice test build of 0.92.1 to play with and I will be glad to report any problems or bugs, according to your directions, to Tim directly.
There were seemingly 3 choices available for download and, initially, I did not know which one would be the one to try, so, as a guess I used the one with ‘Pre’ at the end and it seems to work just fine.
There was the (as usual) LONG wait for it to finally appear on my display, where it has to initialize fonts? but there it was, and it all looks good so far.
I loaded up a couple projects and except for a couple minor misplacements of some text objects, it still seems ok.
Again, thanks Brynn.

The one with the 'pre' in its name is the earliest and most outdated of the three uploads.
The latest build uploaded for testing is this one: Edit (added later): And here is the message from tghs on the inkscape-user mailing list about this build:

Thanks, ~suv.
On closer inspection, I now see the numbering convention used.
Of course, 'Pre' would have been the very first.
I'll try the latest one instead.
Also, I noted the path/thread to where Tim can be reached.
Cool

Re: unofficial 0.92.1 DMG test version (for Macs)
Perhaps I could have posted this sooner but ….
I D’Loaded the new 0.92.1 version of Inkscape for Mac, thanks to Tim Sheridan, and it opens nicely and works quite well here.
0.92.1 sits right there next to 0.91 in my /applications folder however, 91 & 92 share the same preference files. At least, it seem so.
I must note that there are the same assorted lingering bugs that the people on the windows platform are dealing with on 0.92.1.
Upon opening some of my previous saved documents, there are some annoying issues with text objects being moved and then there is that initial opening dialog about DPI considerations but, I rarely have to print any of my documents so, it is not been an issue for me, so far anyway.
I am using El Capitan 10.11.6 here and Quartz 2.7.11 (which it needs), however it seems to work for Sierra too, from what I have read.
I recall a post here where one Mac user had to roll back his Quartz version for Sierra to get 0.92.1 working.
So, again, a big THANKS to Tim Sheridan for spending his time on this.

Re: unofficial 0.92.1 DMG test version (for Macs)
Are there other suggested files to download/install with this test build? (uniconvertor, etc.)
Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

See my earlier answer - the items listed there for a planned 0.92.2 DMG match what is available in the unofficial test build discussed here.tylerdurden wrote:Are there other suggested files to download/install with this test build? (uniconvertor, etc.)
