Printing - resize & render issues

Postby subdecay » Fri Feb 03, 2012 3:02 am

I have been using inkscape, currently have 0.48.2 installed on a Win7 machine. I did not have these issues with 0.47, but do enjoy the fact that 0.48 is much more stable.

I have two printers connected. an HP CP2025 and a samsung ml-2851nd.

There are two main issues:

1st
When printing in .47 it always seemed to print the printers natural resolution. With 0.48 if i do not go to the render menu and select bitmap and change the DPI it prints blurry. I'm assuming at 90 DPI, since this is inkscapes natural way of dealing with things.
That extra step, while a bit of a pain in the neck, because I'd often waste paper, but it worked for the most part.

2nd
After changing my default printer to the samsung, rather than the HP, all prints come out at 25% their original size in the upper corner of the page. This requires me to go in to the printer preferences and change it manually each time... the preferences never get saves like they do in other applications on a per-document-basis.

Sometimes even after changing all the settings it still prints at 25% the original size. It seems to matter whether the options are all changed in a certain order.

Lately I have simply been exporting a .png and printing it in photoshop which has a much more reliable and predictable printing interface.

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

I'm sorry no one has replied to your message yet. I read another topic about images not printing the right size recently, but don't remember the answer. However, my reply here will move your topic back to the top of the list. Hopefully the right person will see it, and be able to help :D
