I want to flow words around an OBJECT, not inside one. I placed an image inside a frame and created my text and flowed it, that worked. I can get it to flow but resizing it and releasing it is my main problem. I've been messing with this feature for 2 days and have finally gotten a couple of nice designs, BUT since there doesn't seem to be any tuts on how to do this I'm appealing to an Inkscape GURU to put one together.
I do OK up to the time I flow the text into the frame...then resizing the import around the image and then how to disconnect the flow function. I press a lot of keys and finally it works but a straight forward tut, or video would sure be handy.
I cannot seem to add a pic or a file but if you have somewhere I could post or how to post the image of my work.
You can PM me if you want to see the file or the pic
Text Flow into Frame NOT inside a frame
Re: Text Flow into Frame NOT inside a frame
First, draw a path the shape of the text you want to have.
If it is around a certain object, then the path should be compound, having a hole inside, the shape of the object -or more, if you want to flow it "around" other objects as well.
Make an unflowed text object, type in the desired characters.
Select text and path, and make it flowed (Alt+W).
Preferably group together the flowed text and the path.
You can adjust the shape of the path after with the node tool, the text will follow; add no fill and outline to it -will be still visible in outlines only display mode (Ctrl+5 on the numpad to change display mode).
If you want to move the text, move the group itself.
If you want to attach svg-s to the work in progress board, you need to zip it first.
In the help section svg-s can be attached by the way.
