Selection from path?

Selection from path?

What is the inkscape equivalent of selection from path like Gimp? When I make a path and attempt to cut or copy, it copies the path, not a selection. Sorry for the stupid question but it seems like I've clicked everything and I searched google/forum... sigh

Perhaps you should clip the selection with the path (Path > Clip > Set), group the selection before clipping.
just hand over the chocolate and nobody gets hurt

Not following you here, it can't be this hard.

I have a picture, I want to draw a path and cut that part out of the picture... I tried clip->set but not working

Maybe double check you're doing the steps in the right order?
