[solved] Trying to split an object along multiple paths

Postby kdelwat » Thu Jan 21, 2016 12:42 pm

Hello!

I'm trying to break one filled path (a continent) into pieces based on the position of some other paths. I am having issues using the Path Division tool. I have combined the set of paths to divide by into one using Ctrl-K, as seen in the following image.

Image

First, I select the path to split by, then the shape underneath (in this case the white continent). I then go to Path -> Division. However, the result is not as expected. I've shaded the regions to highlight the problem.

The lines seem to be shorter than they were drawn and are consequently not splitting properly. Does anyone know what the problem could be? All help is very appreciated.

I'd do one segment at a time.

Any open paths are, for the purpose of these commands, closed by a line between the path's end points. Shape objects and text objects are automatically converted to paths.

Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/
