text problem

Postby Amadeus12 » Thu Feb 21, 2013 4:54 pm

I am editing this file on Wikimedia Commons: Comarcalització_Pau_Vila_1931.svg.
I have a problem with the text used in this picture. Selecting a text in this picture gives this for code:

Code: Select all

                   „
svg:g id="text10658"
  svg:tspan id="tspan10660"
  "SEGRIA"

Selecting the texts with the big T in the toolbar doesn't give any return. That is: it doesn't give information about the font-family, font-size and the text itself.
What has the person done who made this map?

I think Inkscape's svg renderer can show tspan text but its editor (i.e. the text tool) can't edit it.
You might be able to go into the xml and grab the text and paste it into a regular text object but I don't suppose that would be very satisfactory.
someone who knows more than me- and that wouldn't take much knowledge at all - about the SVG standard might stop by with more info on converting.

But in fact when i opened the same file I was able to select the text and edit it without any problem... The font was Arial and the size was 8.xxx. Iwas able to edit the the text in the text and font dialog and on canvas.

I dd notice that the text was tspan but clicking on it allowed me to edit it directly. Font, size etc. What OS and version of Inkscape are you using?
Your mind is what you think it is.

I am using inkscape 0.47.

I am finally able to edit the text. That is by selecting the text-file and right-click to get the menu and click on "enter group #g 10895". The maker of the map has for some reason grouped the texts.

The real problem is have with this file is that it isn't depicted correctly on wikipedia.

But anyway, I have solved the problem.
Thank you for answering, druban.
