Competition for fun...

Postby The_JinJ » Sun Jun 24, 2007 8:06 am

How about a competition on a theme for fun - someone posts a theme and everyone interprets it into there own style and posts the completed image - maybe within a timescale......
Could be fun? :)

Are others interested in doing this? It would be nice to see more work posted here :)

It would be everyones take on the subject matter and it's main purpose to tax the brain and ability of the artist :) so newbs (like myself) and pros would be welcome - I see it as a way of learning new techniques etc - maybe the pros could even post how they managed to do hard parts etc......

How about now :)

If we get more 'players' we could have a closing date and all the entries go into a poll where you vote for you're favourite but I guess that won't work with very few participants.......

Should we have a end date where you post what you have, finished or not, say 48 hours? That would keep the subject changing.....

How about a subject for the first one...errr...

Breakfast

...bit naff but all I could come up with lol!

How about something like this? This is a modified version of a template we use at the GimpDome.

Rules
Theme: (Edit)
No. of Combatants: 1v1
No. of Images: 1
Due Date: (Edit)
Submit By: ACCEPT Challenge
Image Size: Max. 1024 x 768 px
Special Rules/Requirements: (Edit)
Vote Option: Rolling Vote
Vote Ends: In 3 Days

So using your theme as an example:

Rules
Theme: Breakfast - Open Interpretation
No. of Combatants: max 15
No. of Images: 1
Due Date: Tues. June 26
Image Size: Max. 1024 x 768 px
Special Rules/Requirements: None.
Vote Option: Rolling Vote
Vote Ends: In 3 Days

I think before anything is set up as a battle... or whatever, we should get permission from MicroUgly and perhaps ask him nicely to set up two areas..

1) a locker room where battles will start and details hashed out.
2) a battle area where the submissions are put together and voted on.

Although.. thinking about it, I think it would be cool if the forum got together on a theme each month and produced monthly Art Packs. These could be shared on other forums and maybe even dA.

the open clip art library...

we have over 10 000+ public domain SVG clipart and anyone could add to the collection...

:P

it is awesome, but we are having server troubles of late, hopefully we will be back on the air soon!

Here is release 0.18 of the open clip art library (7000 or so SVG clipart) it is a pretty good resource in itself, but some of the newer clipart is really good too (you will have to wait until the site is back up tho... :P )

SVG only
SVG with png thumbnails
