How can I create the Mercedes logo? - Clone&Rotation

Postby powah4reve » Mon Nov 22, 2010 4:03 am

Hi everybody,

I've a question for you :)

If I would create the Mercedes logo (the famous 3 points star), could you explain to me how can I realize the 3 points of the star respecting perfectly the distances between each point?

I know that I have to
- create a point of the star;
- clone it applying a rotation of 120 degrees...

..but I can't do the second point :)

please, heeelp!

Thanks all and sorry for my bad english!

The easiest way is to use the Star tool, although there are many ways to achieve this. On the Star toolbar set the star corners to 3 and create a star by dragging upwards while holding Ctrl to make the angle perfect. Then move base star handle while holding Ctrl to make the star thinner or more massive (Ctrl keeps it symmetric).

If you want to create 3 objects (points) simply duplicate the clone and rotate the duplicate by 120°, it's the same what you already did only repeat it once more (don't forget to drag the rotation center and snap it to one of the end nodes, also hold Ctrl while rotating to make the angles precise, usually snaps at every 15°).
just hand over the chocolate and nobody gets hurt
