I just subscribed to the forum, after having read about it in the Kirsanov's book. I'm completely new to Inkscape, computer graphics, and even graphics at all for that matter, but determined to progress fast. I'm looking forward to learn and be inspired from you guys!

We're not a fast bunch for answering questions (i.e., within a couple of seconds of posting), but we're not too bad at tackling subjects.

If you look up, wayyy up to brynn's post, you'll see links in her signature. Among them is a link to "screencasters". These tutorials are structured such that they produce a particular thing. But don't be fooled. Though a licence plate may not be what you're hoping to achieve, the tutorials demonstrate how the tools get results in a very practical way. Recommended.
