I know this sounds mundane but when I try drawing a circle I end up with a square with several handles.
So why can a guy in YouTube just draw a circle by selecting the circle tool and I can't.
Curious
Thanks
Michael

Re: Drawing circles
Hi.
Make sure you toggle in the full circle option in the circle tool's control bar, which sets back the tool from an arc you drew before.
Check the part on the tool in the manual for further details -handles-.

Re: Drawing circles
Hello,
Or maybe you have the opacity of the shape to 0,
just guessing

If you have problems:
1.- Post a sample (or samples) of your file please.

Re: Drawing circles
"...a square with several handles." Hhmmm....
I'm not sure how the Ellipse tool could ever make a square. Could you draw one of those "circles" and upload the SVG file? I just can't imagine how that could happen, and I want to see what's going wrong. (There was another message the other day with a similar description of drawing a circle, so maybe there's an erroneous tutorial out there?)
Also, please tell us your Inkscape version and operating system

Re: Drawing circles
I took this snapshot of what occurs when I attempt a circle.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Drawing circles
By that screenshot your circle is either white over a white background, or transparent, or the fill has an alpha value of 0, and,
it is also an arc not a full circle.
Change back object opacity to 100% and fill to anything but white and transparent -255 alpha value-, and toggle the full circle icon in the circle tool's toolbar.
On a side note you can change the display mode to outlines only (Ctrl+5 on the numpad two or three times, depending on your version) for a better sence on the actual shape.

Re: Drawing circles
So simple.
All I did was change the colour to blue and there it was. I don't blame anything accept myself, but I expect the more I use Inkscape the less I'll be coming here with daft questions for the board to answer.
Was that a sigh of relief I heard?
Thanks a lot for your help and time.
