Saving file sizes

Saving file sizes

I use inkscape to create cutting files for my vinyl cutter. When I save as a DXF file and the size is 11x18 inches when opening in my cutting software the size is not the same it is much larger. Is there something in inkscape that is making this happen or is it the cutter software that I should be looking at?
