Using images from the web

Hello,
Is it possible to include/import images from a HTTP URL? So far it seems that only local images or embedded images work.

I've tried to figure this out on my own with no luck.

I believe the SVG XML allows referencing an image from a HTTP source, but Inkscape doesn't.
