Fresh install of Inkscape - font trouble in opening old file

Postby scribbler » Tue Dec 10, 2013 5:01 am

Hello all,

New forum member here. Would appreciate your insight. Have used Inkscape for some time, but this is my first real problem.

Recently, I had to get a new hard drive. I installed a fresh copy of Inkscape. Installed my fonts again too.

Went to open my archived Inkscape files, but found that Inkscape isn't associating the fonts with my old files --- despite the fact that those fonts are installed and activated on my system.

I'm running on Linux Mint 13 Maya. Using Font Manager for fonts. Have used this combo for well over a year. But, again, this is a fresh install on a new hard drive - and I'm accessing my Inkscape files from archived files (USB stick).

There are only a few of my files where I converted text to outlines - so most of my files should be calling for the fonts - but they're filling with the default sans-serif system font instead.

These are typography designs, so the font is critical.

How can I resolve this?

Thanks.

Take a look at this post from Tavmjong Bah's Blog.

Since you`ve mentioned a fresh install, perhaps this one could also be handy ,)
