I have download inkscape 2x but still can not draw or use any of the tools on the left side. i am able to convert pictures to svg though. any suggestions?

Please let us know your operating system. Are you getting any error messages, either during installation or use of the program? Are you using a tablet or Tablet PC?

If you're using a MAC (which is what I'm guessing), please search the forums for other messages about using Inkscape on a MAC. There are many messages, which contain the best solutions available. (At least one of the threads is pinned, but I can't remember offhand in which forum....maybe General Discussions?) But if you still need help after that, please don't hesitate to post again
