Welcome to Inkscapeforum!

Wow, very nice work!

I'm not an artist, by either training or skill, so I can't give you any technical advice. But I can give you comments about how your image differs from what I see in life. I also aspire to drawing realistic (or photorealistic) so giving you comments also helps me to learn :D First I wanted to show you this tutorial about making realistic hair: http://inkscapetutorials.wordpress.com/ ... -inkscape/ Oh :( I see that the tutorial is gone. Does anyone know anything about it, the author, where it might be found now?

In general, I would say there needs to be more detail in light and shadow, as a way of giving the face more personality and individuality. The first thing I notice is a lack of shadow around the eyes, and especially around the inner eyes, by the bridge of the nose. The lips are exquisite, btw! As are the eyeballs! The nostrils seem much smaller than what I see on most people. And the highlights on the cheeks and nose seem too generic, and a little too bright, to me. They look as if drawn on a doll. So I would say they need more detail (as I already mentioned) and more variation. I see in your earlier sketches, that many of the details are shown, but by the last version seem missing. Could you have blurred everything all together? Maybe if you blurred each item individually, it would help provide the needed detail?

And one last comment - the lower eyelid only contains lashes on the outside, while usually most people have eyelashes all the way across the lower lid. If you were doing a sylized type of drawing, I would assume it to be part of your style. But since you've said realistic, I would expect more eyelashes, lower especially, and maybe some more on upper lid too.

You might try using some photo portraits as a guide ;) I can't wait to see the next version!
All best :D

Welcome to InkscapeForum, Sude!

And thank you for that link! I did already have the chrisdesign blog/site bookmarked, but didn't know that tutorial was there.
