Print Quality Issue?

Postby dalepenkala » Mon Feb 11, 2019 7:33 am

Hello I'm new to this forum and found out about this from another website. I have tried to research this and cannot get a good answer on how to get what I need done. I am creating a label in Inkscape and I'm tring to get it to print high quality and get the image to print to the correct size. This has to be very accurate. It is great now but I need it to print in higher quality. When I change the printer settings (paper and print quality) it always reverts to the default settings. This is the ONLY program I have this issue with. Am I missing something or is this something that is standard for this program?

Thank you in advance!

Maybe printer margins?

Can you please:

- share a file
- share how large the object should be
- share how large the object prints
- go through your printer settings and check whether there are settings for borders / resize to fit / etc.
Something doesn't work? - Keeping an eye on the status bar can save you a lot of time!

I don't even have a printer myself. But from what I've learned reading the forum over the years, Inkscape's printing abilities seem to be very, very basic. If you need something more than basic, I would suggest saving the file as PDF, and print from your PDF viewer.

Hhmm, I wonder if developers are planning to improve printing for 1.0?

I had very similar problem at printer Canon Pixma iP4200, maybe a year ago. I set driver to high quality and glosy photo paper, but inkscape stil print in standard qualitiy. Then I've seen that the settings have returned to the default values.
How I solved this? Very simple, maybe stupid way.
I completely uninstal printer driver, then restart OS (maybe not needed), then install driver again.
I am not sure, is this also solution for you. Just hope.
