Hi Friends,
I just recommended a new member look through the Inkscape wiki Galleries page (http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Galleries). And I thought I'd browse a bit myself. I found an item buried 2/3 down the page "Galeri" (http://www.awns.com/galeri/). There is no indication on that website that the work was done with Inkscape. The website does not even give the artist's name! All it does is sell the prints (which I don't find the least bit interesting).
So it makes me wonder, if anyone can register, whether it's sort of like a spam entry in the list of Inkscape galleries?
I don't have an account for the wiki, but even if I did, I'm not sure how to handle it. To whom should I report this?
Thanks for your help
PS -- There are also some links that are dead or broken.

Re: Inkscape wiki Galleries page - possible bad link
I agree that it shouldn't be there. That page looks like an unmanaged link dump so it's hardly surprising.
Having said that, if you want to fix it up, anyone can create an account to edit the contents of wiki. I assume there's some sort of approval process, I'm not sure. The guys on the mailing list can help you out.

Obvious spam entries in any existing wiki pages usually get removed rather quickly - but there is no submission or review process for new links (it's a wiki after all) on pages like 'Galleries' or 'Tutorials And Help'.brynn wrote:So it makes me wonder, if anyone can register, whether it's sort of like a spam entry in the list of Inkscape galleries?
The link you are suspicious of was added back in April 2006 - probably a lot could have changed at that site since then, or the original domain had expired, or …
(Hint: the history of each page in the wiki is accessible for all visitors (registered or not) - it just takes a couple of minutes spent to dig into the list to at least find out when it was added and by whom)
Please do not report a single "suspicious" link found in one of the wiki pages in the bug tracker - the wiki is the responsibility of all (visitors or registered users - there is no restriction to register (though you'll likely get banned when posting obvious spam)), and if you think access to some pages needs to be restricted and require a submission & review process: consider proposing this on the inkscape-user mailing list - maybe you can find volonteers able to set something up for the new site and willing to spend the time to review new submissions (as well as all accepted ones, apparently, based on your question) on a regular basis.brynn wrote:I don't have an account for the wiki, but even if I did, I'm not sure how to handle it. With things like that feel free to just create an account and make the edit, or if you feel more comfortable, ping me a message and I'll take a look. I'm an admin there, although not at all active for a while, trying to fix that as the wikis very out of date and has quite a bit f spam thats found its way in...
