The "Align and Distribute and Resize" idea

Postby thinkinmonkey » Tue Nov 03, 2009 11:27 pm

Hi all,
I'm using Inkscape from a while and I'd like to know what you think about this feature I'd like to have.
I'd really like to have a variant of Align and Distribute: Align and Distribute and Sizing!
I mean, you can align objects, but sometimes I need to have objects with the same size (width, height or both) of another one (=the relative) very fast as there's in Adobe Flash.
For example, you select the objects, click the radio button or whatever where is written "ReSize Now" and if you press the Center objects horizontally, the objects will be resized from their center to have the same width of the relative object, wherever they are in the canvas.
Or if you press the Align left edges, every selected objects will be stretched from their left until they reach the left of the relative.
That just to avoid copy/paste procedure of dimensions and to avoid a lot of scale/move operations.
What do you think?

Sounds good. Re-sizing to match is a common need. Almost should be on the tool bar. Some of the align tools, too, me thinks.

'Edit > Paste Size' can be applied to multiple selected objects...

Hi suv,
really thanks: I didn't know about these fantastic features!
Now I can avoid the request, it would be great to have them visually, but your suggest works fine.
Thanks again.
