Hi, i'm coming from Windows7 and Illustrator, but recently I've migrated to Ubuntu 10.10 and I'm trying Inskscape as substitute of Illustrator.

I usually work with dual monitor, then I move all the tool-boxes of inkscape to the second monitor.
And then when I restart inkscape all my desktop configuration disapears.... and restarts in a little window in the main monitor again....

Is it possible to save the settings of monitors in the Inkscapoe as illustrator do?

I know very little about using dual monitors. But there IS a setting in Inkscape Preferences > Windows > Saving Windows Geometry. Here you can have Inkscape remember the windows size and position (or not). I don't know if it will help, but I wanted to mention it

Saving the dialogues positions and configuration isn't yet possible, although it's a frequently requested feature.

But if the dialogs are not docked, aren't they essentially "windows", and therefore affected by that setting in Prefs?

That's an interesting observation, but I just tested and dialogues aren't treated the same as the main window. Only the main window is affected by the window geometry setting.
