Hi.
I have a spiral with an inner radius and outer radius. But I'm not satisfied with the number of turns.
How can I increase number of turns, without change the pisitions of the ending points?
Spiral - Increase turns
Re: Spiral - Increase turns
Hi Grobe,
Here's what I've observed while trying to answer your question.
For every whole number of change to the number of turns (+ or - 1.0), the outer end of the spiral is in the same place (or so close to the same place, that I can't see the difference). But to keep the inner end of the spiral in the same place, requires a change of + or - 2.0. However, in my experiments, my inner radius is 0.500, and I think that's what's causing this 2 to 1 ratio of turns for inner/outer end points. Because in Inkscape px, my inner radius is like 150. So that inner radius must be like a percentage of....something....maybe of the outer radius? (The Guide might explain it?)
So I think you should be able to do some math (although I'm not sure it will end up being so simple as my experiment), and add the right number of turns to keep the endpoints in the same place, and hopefully still have the appearance with the additional turns that you're looking for.

Re: Spiral - Increase turns
Hi.
I was trying to draw a rope that is winded up on a drum. That drum has a fixed inner radius, and the outer radius must also fit. My headace I is that it either got too many turns or too few in order to look good. So I'm looking for a way to change the turns a little bit a time until it looks like something I'm satisfied with.
It's important in this case that the ends doesn't change position.
I also tried to figure out some settings in xml editor, but I didn't figure it out.
Another thing that puzzles me is that changing the divergence value may cause both inner and outer end to move when I change number of turns.

Ah!
I did not test with Divergence setting.
I'm challenged! I'll be thinking and experimenting. I'll let you know if I come up with anything.
