I think you might be looking for the justify settings in the Text and Font dialog -- align left, align right, center, etc.? I'm not sure if there's a keystroke, but there probably is. You could check the tavmjong bah Guide

Unless by "flip" you mean to reverse the direction of the path? (Shift + R)
