Today I found Martin Owen's brilliant 'On Canvas Alignment' proposal
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wk_wf1heHF4
It's a great idea but suffers from some issues, e.g. visual clutter and focus on alignment points rather than lines.
I took his idea and did some thinking of my own and now I would like your feedback. See image below.
On canvas alignment
Re: On canvas alignment
Hi filip, thanks for your feedback - I've contacted Martin, as he's not a regular visitor of this forum.
(The regular way to post things like this would be to upload the image to the Inkscape website into your gallery and then to send a message to the developer mailing list for discussion (our UI team doesn't have its own mailing list yet), or to make a bug report / feature request in Inkscape's bug tracker at launchpad.)

Something doesn't work? - Keeping an eye on the status bar can save you a lot of time!

Moini,
Thanks, I didn't even know that the official inkscape site had a gallery. I'll see if I can upload the proposal there instead.

Re: On canvas alignment
Seems you've been successful
Martin seems to be busy atm., I guess if you want developer or user feedback, you'd need to send a message to the respective mailing lists (or both).

Re: On canvas alignment
I'm confused. Is the ability to center screens on a pro version feature? I just started using the free version and the option to center is greyed out under the edit menu and not shown at all in the properties panel.

Maybe you are looking for the alignment panel...

There are only free versions of Inkscape. Best place to get them is from inkscape.org.
Please post your version number and your system info.
Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/
