Help please

when i first downloaded inkscape, i was able to draw a line with the bezier tool and then curve the line using the Edit path by nodes tool in the center of the line by clicking and dragging up. But now when i try to draw a curved line nothing happens, the line does not move and i am unable to curve any line in any way at all. I do not understand why i am unable to curve any lines at all, no matter what i try the line will not curve and stays flat. I have watched all the videos on youtube and searched for hours on google for a solution but nothing and i really want to make a curved line so that i can curve some text like i did on my first project with inkscape.

Hi there,

my best bet you have switched the pen tool to spiro path mode.

Toggle the icon in the pen tool's toolbar before drawing with it.

It had happened to me from time to time, didn't pay too much attention to it, for some reason the line just wouldn't move, the solution is to shift + drag one of the two nodes of the segment (usually one of them seems to be the culprit) so the curvature handle pops up, from then on you can drag the line as usual.
