I am trying to use Inkscape to create sewing patterns. Maintaining the measurements of curved lines, such as an armhole or a necklline, are essential for what I need to do. As I tweak curved lines it's very important to make sure I am not changing how long they are, so I need to be able to measure them often. I thought I read that there was a way to measure a path, but my version of Inkscape doesn't allow me to do this. Can someone help me figure out how I can do this without having to print and manually check curves with a measuring tape? Thank you.

How can I measure a curved line using Inkscape?
Re: How can I measure a curved line using Inkscape?
I'm running Inkscape 0.47 on Ubuntu, and there's an extension for measuring paths under Extensions=>Visualise Path=>Measure Path...
Unfortunately it doesn't work live as you edit a drawing, so you would have to make your changes, then open the extension dialogue each time. It still might be a bit faster than printing and measuring though

Thank you, Xav. I'll try that. Hopefully it's more than a bit faster than printing and measuring ...
